Cedar Park Chiropractor Talks about Bulging Discs

In between each bone in the spinal column is a cartilage component known as a disc.  The disc provides a cushion between each vertebrae not only to help movement but also to prevent the grinding of the bones.  Cedar park chiropractors have great results treating disc conditions and this article will help give some insight on this problem.

What is a Bulging Disc?

A bulging disc diagnosis means that part of your disc is pushing past the edge of the verterbrae.  This can increase the possibility of your nerve being compressed.  Although bulging discs are very common, they do have the chance of causing pain in spine or nerves.

Disc bulges can be the result of trauma, accidents and sometimes even repetitive movement.  A job or activity that causes you to bend or twist repeatedly over time can cause a disc problem.  There are times when the bulge can lead to a tear when the middle of the disc leaks out and pushes on the nerves.  This can sometimes cause no pain but in many cases cause pain even in the sciatic nerves.

What Are the Symptoms?

Like we talked about earlier, symptoms can be non existent or can cause debilitating pain.  Pain can also radiate into other areas of the body to your hands and feed.  There are multiple studies out there that show disc bulges are very common in our population but do not cause pain.

Bulging Disc Chiropractic Treatment

Spinal adjustments have been shown to be highly effective for the treatment of disc bulges.  Movement and exercise is also a great remedy.  The key is to find the problem.  MRI is the major way to discover the presence of a disc bulge.  Although before you go down that route, I suggest you take a visit to your local chiropractor to find out if you qualify for a non-invasive and gentle treatment.
